The Perfect Blend Is Here to Improve Your Smoothies
Mix up the smoothie, not the recipe.
Sometimes it feels like the only thing preventing us from making a great smoothie is getting the recipe right. Luckily, the new Perfect Blend system aims to take the guesswork out of crafting the ideal fruity beverage.
Made by the same company that brought you the Perfect Drink and Perfect Bake systems, the Perfect Blend takes a similar approach to simplifying your smoothie efforts, using a recipe collection and ingredient weights to instruct you.
The Perfect Blend comes with a small, stainless steel scale that connects through Bluetooth to a free app you can download on your smartphone or tablet. The app (compatible with Apple, Android, Kindle, and Nook devices) contains hundreds of recipes and walks you through each ingredient step-by-step, weighing your ingredients to measure the perfect quantities.
For example, if a recipe calls for a certain amount of ice, you simply place your blender on the scale and add ice cubes until the app tells you to stop. There’s no weighing or measuring required—the app does all that for you. When all of the ingredients have been added, it even tells you how long you should blend to reach the correct consistency.
The recipes you'll find in the app were designed by the chefs at Perfect Blend’s test kitchen, but if you're feeling more adventurous, you can add recipes of your own as well. You can also select settings for specific dietary needs, such as food allergies or lactose intolerance, to filter out recipes that won't work for you.
If you're a bit short on ingredients, the app can be programmed to suggest recipes that make the most of the contents of your pantry, or to create a shopping list out of what you're missing.
The Perfect Blend comes with a stand for your tablet, in addition to the scale. It can be used with the Perfect Bake or Perfect Drink products as well, or as a regular kitchen scale.
If you're lapping all of this up, you'll be excited to know that the Perfect Blend is expected to sell for $99 and should be available this spring in retail outlets everywhere.
