The Best French-Door Refrigerators Under $2000 of 2018By Cindy Bailen, Jonathan Chan, David Kender, and Matthew Zahnzinger
French-door refrigerators have been the fastest growing segment of the fridge market for several years, and it's easy to see why. It's a modern look and an attractive way to showcase your food, but without the major drawback of a side-by-side (anyone who's tried to fit a cookie sheet or a frozen pizza in a side-by-side know what this means).
Usually that style comes with a price tag, though. Premium French doors can run close to $3,000 or more. Fortunately, there are a number of great models that don't cost that much and even manage to retain some of the fancy features, like in-door ice dispensers. Our current favorite is the Samsung RF260BEAESR (available at AppliancesConnection for $1,795.10), which is simple, effective, and well under the price cap.
Here are nine of our top-rated French-door fridges that you can get for under (or just about) $2,000.

Samsung RF260BEAESRBest Overall
Upgrading your kitchen can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. If you like the idea of a French door fridge in your home, but aren’t keen on spending $2,000 to get one, the Samsung RF260BEAESR has you covered.
This entry-level, 25-cu.-ft. French door has most of the design perks of models twice the cost: LED lights, a stainless steel finish, a digital thermostat, and even a pantry drawer with independent temperature settings. All it lacks is a through-the-door ice and water dispenser, which offers a clean exterior look that some users prefer. (To be clear, you still get an ice maker, you just have to open the freezer to access it.)
Why spend an extra $500 or more on a glorified water faucet? If you love the look and feel of a sleek French door fridge, care about food preservation, and don’t mind scooping your ice from a bucket, save your money and snatch up this excellent Samsung. Read full review.
How We Tested
We’ve spent time with hundreds of refrigerators, and assess each one with a combination of lab-based tests and experiential evaluation. To ensure each refrigerator is tested under the same conditions, we test all fridges in a special chamber that is strictly regulated for temperature and humidity.
Once calibrated, each fridge undergoes testing for a minimum of 96 hours. In that time, we test the cooling speed of the freezer, the temperature value and consistency for both the fridge and the freezer, quantify the product’s ability to maintain food freshness. We collect temperature data from the fridge and freezer using small data loggers called iButtons, each placed inside a gelatinous mixture with thermodynamic properties similar to lean beef.
We also test the humidity retention of the crisper drawers, power usage, ice output, and how long your food will stay safe in the event of an extended power loss. This data is combined with scores evaluating real-world food storage capacity, usability, and any other special features the fridge may have.

This 36-inch-wide, 24 cu.-ft. beauty has room for plenty of groceries, and the fantastic interior lighting means nothing will get lost. The temperatures stayed rock solid, though we would have liked a better performance from the crisper drawers. You'll gain some convenience but lose some storage space with the in-door ice maker. Thankfully, user satisfaction is very high for LG French-door fridges. Read full review.
French-door fridges come in a number of different form factors, including a 4-door style like the Whirlpool WRX735SDBM. It's about as inexpensive as you'll find for this style, and we were pleased with the the overall performance is good. With that affordability come some trade-offs, of course. Small shelving and no dedicated crisper drawer mean you might need to get creative when putting groceries away. Read full review.
If you like the sleek, contemporary appearance of a French door refrigerator, take a look at this Whirlpool. It dispenses water and two kinds of ice through the door, but be aware that that icemaker will cost you a lot of lost storage space. Shelves are highly adjustable, but the whole assembly feels a bit cheap. That said, the temperature consistency is excellent.Read full review.
The LG LFCS25426S is a simple, affordable French-door fridge with some minor design flaws that left us puzzled, but still generally pleased. The actual usable space for grocery storage isn't as big as LG claims (all the brands tend to exaggerate), and you have to open both doors to open either of the crisper drawers. Quibbles aside, the interior temperature was consistent and the price is hard to pass up. Note that this model is available in black stainless only; the stainless model has been discontinued. This stainless French door fridge has all the right design choices to serve a family with young children. The exterior resists fingerprints. There is no water dispenser, so no chance for puddles on the kitchen floor. Finally, a child-height pantry drawer can dispense after-school snacks without a need for a step stool. While the fridge temperatures were consistent, the freezer's could stand some improvement. But overall, the price is spot-on for what this fridge offers. Read full review.
